SHARE THE LOVE
Some music for you to download. I've sorted this by album and then posted a sample song or two so you can see whether or not you'd like to download the full thing. I don't want to bombard this community, so if you want more, feel free to take from my blog.

FREE HIP HOP, SOUL, JAZZ, FUNK MP3S ANYONE?
Thought you guys might be interested that I'm turning my journal into a mp3 blog w/ posts on a semi-daily basis. Genres featured will mostly be hip hop, jazz, funk, R&B, and soul. Sometimes rock, spoken word, blues, and early 20s Black music will be featured as well. Also, once a week, I'll post a hip hop video from the 80s and 90s since I have a large collection of them.

You can check out my last three posts and see if the music suits you. Remember that each posts will contain *at least* mp3s in soul, jazz, funk and hip hop. More to come. Enjoy, share, and spread the word.

Leave feedback to let me know what you would like to see more of too. Requests are welcome.

the basic introduction post
It's late, trouble sleeping, sitting here with my headphones on but no music playing.
Stumbled upon the community and thought I'd join based on the info page.. seems pretty right on...

I listen to a lot of music of other genres but I've always been a big hip-hop fan.

As of late....

-Antipop Consortium
-Digable Planets
-Jurassic 5
-Run DMC
-Eric B. and Rakim
-Public Enemy
-Arrested Development
-Pharcyde
-LL Cool J (the mamma said knock you out album)
-Krs-One
-random Dead Prez songs

I usually try to stay away from stuff with 'dick' references and stuff of a more sexist nature. But then again.... I think most of us do?

aside from that, a lot of DJ Food, Shadow, and Cut Chemist have been on my media player......
past that, Theivery Corporation, but I think that's getting a little out of range.
;)

Heard any good instrumentals lately?
aquired a Cypress Hill instrumental album today, normally I wouldn't press play for one of their cds, but when I was a teenager I listened to it so the instrumentals might be kind of interesting for me.

Also today, I heard a version of the Public Enemy/Anthrax 'bring the noise' song
but it was just the vocal tracks all laid over the Ghostbusters theme song from the movie.

it got a little old after a while but it was def. enjoyable! Fun stuff. Whoo hooo!

Dear Definitive Jux,

I'm not mad Aesop Rock has an embarrassment of a new album, two typical music videos to go with it, and a growing uppperground fan base. I'm not even mad he has an Mtv.com profile! But Mr. "I haven't exactly been embraced by the populus" didn't ever give the impression of wanting to be, which makes recent events both alarming and incomplete.

Maybe the reason he stayed underground for so long was because there wasn't a rock-the-world-and-burn-down-the-dance-hall shoulder chip fueling his demeanor. He is the last artist I ever expected to make a music video with his face smothering the lens.

I suppose truly shameless and self-mocking promotion is how to earn money making something that doesn't make the least bit of sense. Sorry you hated your nine-to-five so much, Aesop. But most everyone's got one. Just like a good secret and a bad habit. You used to be both.

Love,
Untalented and Belligerent

PS: Having El-P on your label was bad enough

You will probably all hate me for this, but I bought KRS' Mix Tape tonight, and I have a few other tracks on various releases. And anyway, what are KRS' two or three great albums? I like big beats and nasty lyrics (ha ha, if that helps). I'd appreciate any feedback

My school wants to bring KRS here in February, but since this wasn't planned last year, no one has room in their budgets for his $12K costs. On the good side, we can afford Saul Williams. I wish I had strings to pull.

Slug interview
Talked to Slug from Atmosphere. If you wanna check out the interview, it's front-page at www.inkdrinker.net.

Talked about a lot of stuff (some of you might be interested, we talked about the KRS-One/Nelly thing too.) Interesting opinions all around.

Interview suggestions?
It looks like I'll be interviewing Atmosphere's own Slug on Sept 15 in Denver. It oughtta appear on my website (inkdrinker.net) and hopefully in WonkaVision Magazine. If any of you have suggestions on questions to ask, post 'em.
